Lilly & Molly was founded by Wendy, a self-made entrepreneur whose life has been shaped by resilience, determination, and a deep appreciation for natural ingredients.
Wendy left school early and became a mother at seventeen. Without the advantages of a formal education, she quickly learned that if she wanted independence and security for her family, she would have to build it herself. That determination became the foundation of a lifelong entrepreneurial journey.
In 1998, during a particularly challenging time in her life, Wendy began searching for a way to create her own income. She enrolled in an aromatherapy course, hoping it might offer a practical path forward. What she discovered was far more than a business opportunity. The course sparked a deep fascination with natural ingredients, traditional plant remedies, and simple formulations that work in harmony with the body.
Around the same time, Wendy started her first business using a modest insurance payout and a great deal of determination. Through persistence and persuasive negotiation, she secured the agency for a highly sought-after Australian dancewear brand. From there she gradually expanded, securing additional international agencies and building strong relationships with dance retailers.
Over time, the company grew into one of the leading suppliers of dancewear and accessories to specialist dance stores across Africa and Mauritius.
As the business expanded, Wendy also moved into manufacturing and retail, eventually building a manufacturing operation and two retail stores. Over the next two decades she built and operated several successful businesses, supporting herself and her family through hard work, practical learning, and relentless perseverance.
Like many small business owners around the world, Wendy faced enormous challenges during the Covid years. The pandemic forced the closure of most of the businesses she had spent decades building.
Lilly & Molly represents a new chapter.
The brand brings together many threads of Wendy’s life — her early training in aromatherapy, her appreciation for traditional ingredients, and decades of experience creating and building businesses from the ground up.
Lilly & Molly focuses on simple, thoughtful formulations made with ingredients that have stood the test of time. Wendy believes skincare does not need to be complicated or filled with unnecessary additives to be effective. Instead, she is drawn to honest, traditional ingredients such as nourishing oils, botanical extracts, and time-honoured remedies.
Through Lilly & Molly, Wendy hopes to share both her knowledge of natural ingredients and the belief that it is always possible to begin again.
